If it's steel or aluminum and it lives outside, we can build it. Everything comes out of one shop, so the pieces actually match instead of almost matching.

How the Work Happens
We measure your site and photograph the existing gate or fence, then draw up the piece so you can approve the design before anything gets cut. Fabrication happens in our shop (cutting, welding, grinding) and so does the finish: powder coat or primer and paint over proper prep, so the piece arrives ready for wet Oregon and Washington weather instead of getting touched up in a driveway. Install day is usually quick because the piece was built to your exact measurements, not adjusted on site.

Matching a Gate Someone Else Installed
You don't need to have bought your driveway gate from us. Bring us a gate from any installer and we can replicate the picket profile, rail heights, and finish closely enough that the new walk gate or fence panel reads as part of the original set. And because we service operators from LiftMaster, DoorKing, Nice/Apollo, FAAC, Viking, and others every day, we can tune or repair the automated gate while we're there.
One Access System for Every Entry
A pedestrian gate is more useful when it's on the same access system as your driveway gate. We add electric strikes or magnetic locks to walk gates and tie them into the keypad, fob, or app entry you already use. DoorKing and LiftMaster systems handle multiple entries cleanly. For properties that want to see who's at the walk gate, we install DoorBird and ButterflyMX video intercoms so you can talk to a visitor and release the gate from your phone.
Frequently asked questions
Can you match a gate or fence that another company built?
Almost always. We measure the existing piece, match the tube sizes, picket spacing, and rail heights, and color-match the finish. Small differences in weathering are normal at first. A powder-coated black panel next to a ten-year-old one will look slightly newer until it settles in. We'll tell you up front how close the match will be.
Steel or aluminum: which should I choose?
Steel is stronger and stiffer, which matters for wide spans, security applications, and anything that takes abuse. Aluminum won't rust, weighs far less, and is often the better call for long swing gates and wet sites, which describes most of the Portland and Vancouver area. Weight also affects automation: a lighter gate lets you use a smaller operator and reduces wear on hinges and rollers.
Does a custom gate change what opener I need?
Yes. Operators are rated by gate weight and length, so a heavy ornamental steel gate may push you past what a residential unit like a Mighty Mule or Chamberlain/Elite can handle, into a LiftMaster, Nice/Apollo, FAAC, or Viking sized for the load. For very heavy or high-cycle gates, hydraulic and industrial operators such as HySecurity are the right tool. We size the operator to the gate we're building, not the other way around.
What safety devices are required on an automated gate?
Automated gates fall under the UL 325 standard, which requires entrapment protection, typically photo eyes and contact edge sensors that stop or reverse the gate if something is in its path. The standard also expects pedestrians to have their own entry separate from the vehicle gate's travel path, which is one of the main reasons we build walk gates. Every automated gate we touch leaves with working safety devices, and we test them on existing installs too.
What affects the cost of a fabrication project?
Four things drive most of the price: material (steel versus aluminum, and how much of it), size and span, design complexity (simple pickets cost less than scrollwork or laser-cut panels), and finish (powder coating costs more than paint but lasts far longer in our climate). Site conditions matter too: slopes, long conduit runs, and new concrete footings add labor. We quote after measuring, so the number reflects your actual site.
Can my walk gate use the same keypad or fob as my driveway gate?
Yes. We fit the pedestrian gate with an electric strike or magnetic lock and wire it into your existing access controller. DoorKing, LiftMaster, and Linear systems all support multiple entry points on one set of codes and credentials. If you'd rather see visitors before letting them in, a DoorBird or ButterflyMX video intercom at the walk gate lets you answer and unlock from your phone.
